The weather in West Virginia is beautiful, I don’t think I could ask for better conditions right now. I have been logging about ten hours a week on my bikes, and I’m starting to redevelop my tan lines quite well. How about you? How are your cycling tan lines coming along?

Note the funny eyeglass tan lines due to my "M-Frame" sunglasses 🙂

Best part about cyclists and their tan lines is that it is almost a badge of honor; the wider the contrast between tan skin, and pale skin, the more you know that the rider was out on the road, chugging along. This can be fooling, since not all riders become the Cavendish’s and Cancellara’s of your local group ride just because they have some serious tannage going on. Never use someone’s tan lines as an indication of how fast they are or you are going to get whipped by the local pale, hairy-legged dude who comes out once a month to annihilate everyone, then go back into hiding. You know them… the weekend warrior type…

Not to be narcissistic, but I’m proud of my tan lines. Some people may think they are embarassing when out in public in normal clothing, or at the beach (I tan terribly fast, so this rarely matters for vacations), but I like to think of it as an international sign of dedication to what you enjoy doing. If anything, it may give me an opportunity to explain to someone, or tell them a funny story about why everything above a certain place on my thighs are not as tan as the rest of my legs.
