The velomihottie’s brother came back from a Germany/Austria after a year of studying abroad. I guess he is back in the spirit of being American, because they took this photo.
This is how we roll in WV! Note, the legit revolver, not a plastic toy~

It’s amazing how much information your brain can process at once. I hit a pothole right on the white line on the pavement today in Weston and went for a spill. The guy behind me obviously ran into me, and we both went down. My bike slid from under me, and I was on my left side on my hip and forearm, going across the road… for what seemed to be about five or six feet.
Bike is fine. I made sure of it, eventhough I didn’t want to be the cyclist who checks out the bike before himself. Front tire is trash, severed all the way down to the threading, but eh, oh well. Bibshorts did not rip, nor did my jersey, which is a miracle, but I did get a few rasberries under them.
Not bad at all, huh?
I gotta admit, it was cool as anything sliding like on a waterslide on pavement. Maybe it was the adrenaline rush?

I’ve been posting things at least once a day on WV Cycling’s Facebook page. If you are the kind of person who wants to vicariously indulge in everything wvcycling, then this will be for you! I’ve also been doing a bumpersticker contest where people can win one of my new bumperstickers by correctly naming the location of which I took a photo of. So far, Michael Martin and Jared Yates have won one!

Received a comment recently from Tiffney Batton about spreading the word about an event named Timmy’s Challenge. Here’s the message:
My name is Tiffney Batton. I am trying to get the word out about a great bike ride I am helping organize for Timmy’s Fund-a local nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting families who are currently battling childhood cancer. All gifts and donations will be used to relieve the financial and emotional burdens of families who are undergoing treatment at WVU’s Children’s Hospital. This 100 mile, 2 day ride takes place in North Bend state park-a beautiful scenic ride along the rail trail. There are great incentives for top fundraisers, and also the satisfaction that riders are helping families just like mine, who have a child struggling with cancer. My daughter was 2 years old when she was diagnosed, and during her 48 weeks of chemo,Timmy’s fund was a constant source of comfort and help. She is now 5 years old and CANCER FREE! Our family is so thankful for all Timmy’s fund has done, and want to help other families who are still in the fight of their lives. Will you please help me get the word out about this amazing opportunity for cyclists to unite & help over 50 families currently seeking treatment at WVUCH? Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Our website is http://www.timmyschallenge.org
Happy Riding!
I thought I would take the time to cover a little bit about this event:
Time: Saturday, August 27 at 8:00am – August 28 at 5:00pm
Location: North Bend State Park
Description: What’s Your Challenge?
Have you ever thought of doing a 5k…10k….Half or Full Marathon? How about a 100 bike ride along the North Bend Rail Trail over 2 days?
If this event is calling your name, go to the Timmy’s Challenge Webpage and register today. This is going to be an awesome weekend. Timmy’s Century was such a HUGE success that we decided to up the ante and add in some additional events for 2011.
Check back here or the website for further updates….the planning hasn’t stopped yet. On Sunday, August 28th, we are going to have a day in the park for all non-participants. We are wanting a couple of bands to play at the amphitheater, there will be a huge cookout and games and family fun throughout the park.
Please invite all your friends out to this fantastic weekend and help us raise enough money to purchase the property for Timmy’s Place.
